Background

Tracy Smith and Todd Smith started Blue Hammer L.L.C. in 2000.  The two are brothers with diverse education backgrounds and business experience.  Both have lived in Chattanooga for more than 30 years.

Tracy Smith is the licensed general contractor for Blue Hammer, and believes in a hands-on approach to the coordination and oversight of every home Blue Hammer builds.  Before starting the company, Tracy already had 15 years of construction and remodeling experience including foundations, framing, trimming and siding work.  He began as a general laborer in college and soon thereafter advanced to be assigned individual projects and supervision of crews.  He was also a Master-degreed professional employed as a program director for Memorial Hospital until starting Blue Hammer.  Over the years of operation, Tracy has personally managed the construction of every Blue Hammer home, and has built a reputation as someone with high quality standards and integrity.

Todd Smith has been primarily responsible for the business administration side of the company.  Before January 2007, Todd Smith was the President of Fillauer LLC where he had worked for more than 14 years—starting as a design engineer, then into operations management, and finally the President of the Chattanooga division.  Todd left Fillauer in January 2007 to dedicate his full time to the growth and success of Blue Hammer.  Todd still manages the administrative side of Blue Hammer, but is also now personally involved in customer service before and after the sale, home design, estimating, etc.

Tracy and Todd both believe in continuous improvement, and spend a great deal of time researching and implementing new construction best practices, energy-efficient and “green” building techniques, architectural and interior design trends, and overall business practices for the greatest level of customer satisfaction.
